The Senior Center is a community facility in which older adults can meet with one another to fulfill many of their social, physical, emotional and intellectual needs. It is also a focal point for services to and by, older persons. Center programs and activities can help seniors enhance their dignity, support their independence, and encourage their involvement in and with the community. The Senior Center provides access to community resources as well as to services and activities that maintain independence and wellness.

 

SERVICES OFFERED:

1. Information and Referral: A service designed to furnish information to older adults concerning the availability of services and resources, and/or to assist them in securing needed services by referring them to appropriate community services and resources.

2. Transportation: The Center operates a transportation program which is available to Toms River Township residents who are 60 and over. Reservations must be made two weeks in advance to insure scheduling. This service is limited and priority is given for medical transportation.

3. Health Services: Various health checks are offered at the Center on a regular basis. These include blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes screening. Appointments are necessary.

4. Activities: A variety of activities such as yoga, billiards, dancing, etc. are offered at the Center daily. Schedule of activities and Monthly Newsletter of event are available for pick-up at the Senior Center.

An Island Senior Bus is available for seniors and disabled persons who reside on the barrier islands.
