Definitions & Schedules: Metal: Definition: Items made primarily of metal. Examples: Washers, dryers,
dishwashers, refrigerators, wrought iron railings, grills, bathtubs, exercise
equipment, metal poles, folding chairs, hot water heaters, metal tanks, etc.
Newer dishwashers that are made of plastic are picked up as non-metal/extra
collection. Due to a Federal law, Freon must be removed from refrigerators,
dehumidifiers, etc. The appliance must have a sticker attached by a licensed
service company. Empty propane tanks must be brought into the Metal pickup schedule: Put items to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday following your request. Items will be picked up during that week (not just on Monday but sometime between Monday and Friday of that week). One list is compiled for each week. Extra Collections (non-metal): Definition: This is for pickups that are not primarily metal and do not fit into the Robo can. (If you live in an area of town that does not have the Robo cans, you can just put items out for your regular weekly collection; you do not need an extra collection.) Examples are furniture, carpet, mattresses, etc. Remember those items such as carpet, lumber and other long items must be cut into four-foot sections tied/bundled in some manner and weigh no more than 50 lbs. This does not include furniture.
