NJ Fruit and Vegetable Vouchers

Staff members from the Toms River Senior Center will distribute fruit and vegetable vouchers at 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 17 to income qualified Seniors at the weekly Farmer’s Market in Huddy Park, Downtown Toms River.  This is part of a program run through the NJ Department of Agriculture that offers $20 in vouchers (four $5.00 vouchers per household) toward the purchase of fruits and vegetables grown in the Garden State.  The Huddy Park Farmer’s Market has been approved as a qualified site for the vouchers to be redeemed for NJ grown produce.

Interested Ocean County Seniors must be at least 60 years old, bring I.D. and proof of income to determine eligibility.  Acceptable forms of identification are a driver’s license, Medicare card, and County ID card.  They must also bring proof of income, including a Social Security statement.

For more information and eligibility guidelines, contact the Toms River Senior Center directly at (732) 341-1000 x 8460 or 8461.  The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.  Some transportation is available by appointment, through the Center.

For those driving their own vehicles, paid parking is strictly enforced in the Downtown area.  Metered parking is available on site and across Water Street in the upper and lower levels of the Municipal building’s parking deck.  The upper deck is $.25 an hour.  The lower deck, its small adjacent lot, and Lobster Shanty/Huddy Park lot are $.50 an hour.  The County provides free Downtown parking in its large facility on Hooper Avenue, across from the Justice Complex.
