“SPRING INTO SUMMER” CELEBRATION TO BE HELD

AT THE TOMS RIVER SENIOR CENTER

The Toms River Senior Center will host a fashion show and tea party on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 from 1 PM to 3 PM.  A watercolor art exhibit will also be featured with numerous works produced by the Center’s own members.  This event is free of charge and open to all seniors.  There will be door prizes offered, as well.  Guests do not have to be members to attend the festivities.  The Senior Center is located at 652 Garfield Avenue, Toms River.

Jeanette Calao, staff member, organized the event.  She stated, “We have nine members who volunteered to be our models.  Each will model two outfits generously donated by Sears for our “Spring Into Summer” fashion show.  Later, we will be having our tea party complete with lovely finger sandwiches and other delicious treats.  We will relax and enjoy the art exhibit together.”  Ms. Calao encouraged interested Seniors to call the Center for more information at (732) 341-1000 x 8460 and 8461 Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

JoAnn Benson, Director of the Toms River Township Department of Human Services is also director of the Senior Center.  Ms. Benson stated, “We are very grateful to Sears for offering to assist us in the project.  They donated about twenty outfits to us, offered discounts to our models, and are also contributing some mystery gift cards to be raffled off to the audience.  Super Foodtown of Rt. 37 stepped forward with a generous donation of finger sandwiches and a gift basket of assorted teas and cookies with a gift card.  International House of Pancakes (IHOP) of Rt. 37 also helped us out by donating a gift certificate.”  Benson added, “These items will be offered as door prizes.  We are very fortunate to have the support of the local business community.”
