TO HOST VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION

The Toms River Senior Center will host a Valentine’s Day Party on Thursday, February 14^th from 12 Noon to 3 PM.  An Italian hot buffet luncheon will be served and DJ Richie “N” will provide musical entertainment.  Tickets are $6.50 per person and seating is limited.  Door prizes will be offered.  Guests are encouraged to call now to reserve their spot and to purchase tickets in advance.  The Senior Center is located at 652 Garfield Avenue. Some free transportation is available for Toms River residents.

“This is one of our most popular parties of the year,” said Jeanette Calao, Senior Center staff member.  “Many of our guests like to get up and show off their line dancing skills.  Other just enjoy mingling with friends, enjoying the music and the great food.”  Calao added, “This one is so popular, we really encourage folks to call in advance for tickets.  We hate having to turn people away at the door when this one sells out.”

JoAnn Benson is Director of Human Services for Toms River Township and directly oversees the Senior Center’s operations.  She stated, “You don’t have to be a member to join us for this party.  All Seniors are always welcome here!”  She added, “We try to address the age specific needs of Toms River’s older adults and their caregivers through a diverse program that includes educational opportunities, socialization, outreach, and much, much more.  Our doors are open to all seniors, regardless of residency.  We encourage folks to stop by for a tour, information, or just to pick up a newsletter.”   

The Toms River Senior Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM except holidays.  The INFO LINE to purchase tickets, get directions, or arrange transportation is (732) 341-1000 ext. 8460 or 8461.  Please call during the Center’s regular operating hours.
