Toms River Senior Center Hosts Valentine’s Dance

            The Toms River Township Senior Center will be hosting a Valentines Day Dance Party on Wednesday, February 14^th, from 12 Noon to 3 PM.  The Center is located at 652 Garfield Avenue in Toms River.  Tickets are $6.50 per person and guests are asked to please reserve seats early by calling the Center’s Info Line at (732) 341-1000 X 8460.  All Ocean County seniors are welcome to attend.

            Senior Center staffer Jeanette Calao is coordinating the event.  She stated, “We are very excited about this year’s party.  We have a hot buffet planned and Rick Riccardi and his band will be on hand to provide entertainment.  Some people will want to get up and dance, and others are encouraged to just join us, enjoy the delicious buffet, and mingle with friends.”  She added that a party game will be part of the festivities and that a door prize will be given away, as well.  “We had a packed house last year and had to turn people away at the door.  We strongly encourage folks to purchase their tickets early.” 

            JoAnn Benson, Director of the Senior Center extends her welcome to all interested seniors.  “Guests don’t have to be a member to attend our events or activities.  We are open and available to service all seniors and have so many activities, clubs and classes to offer.”  Ms. Benson added, “Membership is free here anyway and we look forward to seeing new faces all the time.  Our staff is specially trained to deal with all kinds of issues affecting the older adult.  We provide numerous services, free newsletters, and this dance party is one of many events on our very busy calendar.”

            The Toms River Township Senior Center and its Info Line are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.  According to Calao, there is already great interest in this year’s Valentines Day Dance Party, and that tickets are already selling quickly.  “We ask that anyone interested in attending, please call first.”  She added, “Seniors are welcome to drop in any time we are open, to take a tour, meet the staff, and ask about available services within the community.  We have so much to offer here.”
