Environmental Commission

Meetings:  2nd Monday of each month, 7:30 PM at the Municipal Building  (June and October meeting 3rd Monday of the month).

The public is encouraged to attend and participate.

Mission Statement

The Toms River Township Environmental Commission has been established by the governing body to advise the Mayor and Council, and the governing bodies’ several boards concerning matters affecting the environment. The commission is to maintain a data base of environmental resources of the community and to investigate any problems that appear to threaten those resources. In addition, the commission is to educate the public and Township personnel on environmental issues and seek to protect, preserve, and enhance the environment.

Among the areas of concern to the commission are open space preservation, water resources management, air pollution control, solid waste management, noise control, soil and landscape protection, environmental appearance, marine resources and protection of the local flora and fauna (including trees).
